I am writing my first post from Tamale. I was supposed to fly up to Tamale on the 8th, however it ended up I got a free ride driving and seeing the countryside. Ghana is about the same size as Oregon the state. Yet, it took us 10 hours to drive from Accra to Tamale. About a quarter of the time, the road was a complete mess or was no pavement, just dirt. Potholes the size of the Grand Canyon ate up most of the windy road. Tamale is quite different than Accra. It is in the Savanna. Thus, it is much drier and the vegetation doesn't reach as high. Accra, on the other hand was quite green with thick brush and big palm trees. The moment I stepped out of the plane you could feel the heat. It got up to 93 degrees but felt like 103...
So I sit here, 24+ hours of travelling. I get to sleep in tomorrow. My host family is very nice, and I do feel safe in this house. I will be journaling every day, but only updating if there is power or internet.
